Visitors come to Dong Hoi for one primary reason: the unique caves. But their biggest surprise is the vitality and relaxed exuberance of the city of Dong Hoi, with its multiple attractions.
The caves, of course, are many, varied and famous. The highlight remains Phong Nha Cave, sometimes dubbed the “Disappearing River”, a UNESCO World Heritage site where a 5km underground River flows right out of the mountain. Recently opened Paradise Cave provide spectacular mammoth rooms and formations. Other caves, like the Dark Cave and Hang En are for those with an exploring instinct. And the granddaddy of them all is the largest cave in the entire world, right here in Quang Binh province.
