The bus picks you up at our hotel and brings you to your hotel in Hue. En route, descend into the historic Vinh Moc Tunnels in the former DMZ, where an entire village elected to go underground rather than move during the American-Vietnam War. The elaborate tunnel system includes school rooms, hospital rooms, living quarters and of course air vents. Several exits bring you to fishing boats on the Tonkin beach. Similar to the Cu Chi tunnels, but much easier for westerners to stand upright (in most places). The bus tour includes riding through now emerald verdant rice fields bearing no resemblance to their former moonscape appearance from the bombing during the war as American aircraft and South Vietnamese artillery tried to keep the military out of the “de-militarized” zone. Tour includes the Hien Truong Bridge, the only bridge connecting North and South Vietnam, across the DMZ, between 1954 and 1975. Continue on to be delivered directly to your hotel in Hue.
